CAMP OVERVIEW

For college or high school students interested in a career in sports broadcasting, the Bob Rathbun Broadcasting Camp provides an inside look into the world of broadcasting and gives future broadcasters the advantages they need to succeed in this extremely competitive industry. We combine classroom teaching with hands on experience while also providing opportunities for networking with industry insiders. Join us this summer and make your dreams a reality.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Live the life of a real broadcaster covering the Girls Tournament of Champions, one of the most prestigious girls high school basketball tournaments in the country. During the Broadcasting Camp you will learn and apply interviewing skills, writing and broadcasting tools, and produce a newscast with professional equipment. You will have the opportunity to meet and interview some of the country's most well-known college basketball coaches and produce live game broadcasts.


Are you ready to experience three days of intense broadcast training led by one of the top sports voices in the country? The Bob Rathbun Broadcasting Camp is the perfect way to jump start your broadcasting career aspirations. You won't find any broadcasting camp in the country that combines the type of classroom work with "real" hands on experience that participants gain at the Bob Rathbun Broadcasting Camp.

The camp is hosted by Suwanee Sports Academy during the Girls Tournament of Champions. Suwanee Sports Academy is one of the country's premier event facilities with over 100,000 square feet of space including seven NBA-sized basketball courts. While at the Bob Rathbun Broadcasting Camp, participants will go from classrooms at Suwanee Sports Academy to the courts where they will interview some of the top college coaches in the country and produce live broadcasts. The Girls Tournament of Champions brings together the country's best high-school players and every Division I coach in the country for three days of competition and recruiting.

Cost:
$700 per participant
A $300 deposit is due with each registration. The remaining balance is due upon check in.

Schedule: July 6 - July 8
Check in begins at 3:00pm on July 6 and the first classroom session begins at 4:00pm. The camp will conclude on July 8 at 9:00pm. On Monday July 7th, campers will have the opportunity to tour Philips Arena, home of the NBA's Atlanta Hawks and NHL's Atlanta Thrashers. This tour will provide campers with a look into everything that goes on to make a game broadcast.

The Bob Rathbun Broadcasting Camp is directed by nationally-known sports broadcaster Bob Rathbun. Rathbun has been broadcasting since he was 12 years old and is currently the play-by-play man the NBA's Atlanta Hawks and is the signature voice for FSN South. Rathbun also covers college basketball and football throughout the year.

With over 30 years of broadcasting experience and a passion for working with young people, Rathbun will personally lead campers through three days of intensive training. Rathbun will instruct participants in the classroom as well as provide feedback after live broadcasts.
